Trade Adjustment Assistance Undermines Free Trade Push

Press Releases · May 10, 2015

Washington -- According to reports, the Senate may attach Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) to the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) bill. Heritage Action released the following statement from chief executive officer Michael A. Needham:

"Heritage Action has always been a free trade organization, but free-market conservatives are understandably split on this president's request for fast track authority. Including an egregiously ineffective welfare program in a bill intended to promote trade will only exacerbate the problem. Conservatives should oppose any effort to combine these two bills."
