Texas Senate Passes SB 14 in Move to Protect Minors from Dangerous Cross-Sex Hormones and Experimental Surgeries

WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, released a statement from Janae Stracke, Vice President of Field Operations, praising the Texas Senate for passing SB 14, legislation that would protect minors from dangerous cross-sex hormones and experimental surgeries.

“Children struggling with gender confusion or dysphoria deserve compassionate care, not experimental hormones or dangerous surgeries that could cause physical and psychological harm for the rest of their lives. If enacted, Texas’s SB 14 would ensure that children do not become the science projects of the Left’s radical gender experiment by prohibiting health care professionals from administering cross-sex hormones and performing irreversible surgeries to remove healthy body parts. By passing this legislation, the Texas Senate has taken an important first step towards protecting children in the Lone Star State.

Heritage Action thanks Sen. Donna Campbell for spearheading this effort in the Senate and urges the House to pass Rep. Tom Oliverson’s companion bill, HB 1686. We look forward to Texas joining the growing list of states that have enacted legislation to protect children from the lifelong pain and potential sterilization caused by cross-sex hormones and experimental surgeries.”
