Tennessee Legislature Votes to Protect Children from Cross-Sex Hormones and Experimental Surgeries, Passes SB 1

Press Releases · Mar 3, 2023

WASHINGTON — Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, including thousands of Tennesseans, released the following statement from Janae Stracke, Vice President of Field Operations, commending the Tennessee General Assembly for passing S.B. 1 and thanking Governor Lee for signing the legislation into law.

“The last things girls and boys struggling with gender confusion need are dangerous cross-sex hormones and experimental, life-altering operations. Instead, they need compassionate care that addresses the underlying mental health problems associated with gender confusion and dysphoria. SB 1 will protect Tennessee children from lifelong physical and psychological pain by prohibiting these dangerous procedures and classifying these experimental surgeries as medical malpractice.

Heritage Action praises the passage of SB 1 and thanks Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson and Governor Lee for getting this important legislation across the finish line. We look forward to working alongside Tennesseans to get more child protection legislation like this to Governor Lee’s desk.'
