Steve Chartan Named Heritage Action Executive Vice President as Organization Expands National Efforts

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Heritage Action today announced that Steve Chartan has been named Executive Vice President, elevating a longtime Capitol Hill strategist to help lead the organization’s expanding policy and grassroots efforts nationwide.

Chartan first joined The Heritage Foundation as Vice President for Government Relations, and he has worked closely with policymakers in the administration and on Capitol Hill to advance conservative priorities.

The move comes as Heritage Action continues to scale its work in the states and in Washington, translating conservative policy ideas into legislative action.

Background on Steve Chartan

Steve Chartan brings more than 15 years of experience in policy and legislative strategy.

He previously served as Chief of Staff to Senator Ted Cruz, where he advised on policy and legislative priorities and managed the senator’s official office. Earlier in his career, he was the founding executive director of the House Freedom Caucus, working with members to develop and advance a conservative legislative agenda. He also held roles with the Senate Steering Committee under Senators Mike Lee and Pat Toomey.

Following his congressional service, Chartan worked in the private sector as a principal at a government relations and public affairs firm.

He is a graduate of Duke University.
