House Passed $500 Billion Doc Fix Boondoggle

Press Releases · Mar 25, 2015

Washington -- Today, the Republican-controlled House passed a doc fix bill (H.R. 2), negotiated by Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), that will increase America's national debt by roughly $500 billion over the next two decades. Heritage Action released the following statement from chief executive officer Michael A. Needham:

"Members may have solved a parochial political problem with today's vote but they have exacerbated the nation's policy problems. This deal increases spending in the near-term for promises of woefully inadequate long-term reductions -- it sends a signal that deficit spending is back in style. Liberals and lobbyists are hoping this is a pattern of things to come and conservatives in the House must ensure it is not."
