Heritage Action Praises Leadership on SB 319, Ensuring Voting Integrity at the Ballot Box

Press Releases · Jun 3, 2026

Washington, D.C.—Heritage Action today praised the passage of SB 319, spearheaded by Senator Thomas Pressly and Secretary of State Nancy Landry.

Elections are the bedrock of our republic, and voter confidence in their integrity is critical. SB 319 being passed represents common sense legislation being enacted to ensure election integrity. Louisiana is now the 37th state to require voter identification at the ballot box, which ensures elections to be fair, secure, and accessible for all eligible voters.

Dr. Kevin Roberts, President of Heritage Action released the following statement:

“Governor Landry’s signing of SB 319 delivered a major win for election integrity in my home state of Louisiana. We thank Louisiana State Sen. Thomas Pressly and Secretary of State Nancy Landry for their leadership on SB 319 to ensure that every voter’s identity is verified before their ballot is counted. Few issues are more straightforward than this—our elections should be secure.

James Quarles, Director of Advocacy and Engagement at Heritage Action added:

“As states like Louisiana strengthen the integrity of their elections, American citizens can have greater confidence that their ballots will count fairly and securely. States across the country should continue to make it easy to vote and hard to cheat, and this legislation is another step in the right direction.”

Heritage Action will continue working in the states to advance legislation securing election integrity at the ballot box by making voter ID compliance the norm.
