Washington—This morning, members of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) elected Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) as the committee's chairman for the 116th Congress. Heritage Action released the following statement from Executive Director Tim Chapman
During his first session in Congress, Congressman Johnson led serious legislative efforts to advance conservative policy priorities on issues ranging from religious liberty to immigration to welfare reform. In an era of divided government, the Republican Study Committee is well positioned to advance conservative priorities that appeal to working-class Americans who rightly feel disconnected from an increasingly progressive Democrat party.
Heritage Action commends Rep. Tom McClintock for his campaign and continued commitment to conservative principles. We congratulate Mike Johnson and look forward to working with him in the 116th Congress.
