Heritage Action Announces Legislative Scorecard

Press Releases · May 9, 2011

Today, Heritage Action formally announced the creation of a legislative scorecard.

Roll Call's headline was simple and to the point: Heritage Advocacy Arm Tells Members: We're Watching

Below is the text of a letter from Heritage Action's CEO Michael A. Needham that our government relations team sent to the Hill:

In order to maximize the ability of Heritage Action for America to highlight the important legislative activities and decisions made by our lawmakers, and to provide the best information to our members and activists, Heritage Action is announcing the creation of a legislative scorecard.
Heritage Action for America is committed to building an America where freedom, opportunity, prosperity, and a civil society flourish.
Heritage Action's mission statement will guide our decision-making process, and we will do our absolute best to provide advance notice of those decisions. However, we reserve the right to key vote legislative activities after the fact; including several votes already cast in the 112th Congress.
From time to time, we may choose to include other legislative activities in our scorecard. Again, we will do our absolute best to provide advance notice with these items.
