CBO: Obama's $4.3 Billion Spending Request Unnecessary

Press Releases · Jul 20, 2014

Washington - This afternoon, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated just $25 million out of the President's $4.346 billion emergency spending request would be spent this fiscal year. Heritage Action, which previously called President Obama's request a "non-starter," released the following statement from chief executive officer Michael A. Needham:

"As today's report makes clear, President Obama has the funding he needs. The recent debate surrounding emergency funding was an effort by the President to take advantage of a crisis he created. The question is not what resources President Obama needs, but whether he will take concrete steps to reverse his anti-enforcement policies. Any congressional action must focus on addressing the cause, not just the symptoms."
