ALIGN Act Puts American Workers First

Press Releases · Apr 16, 2021

Washington—Heritage Action for America today released a statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson in support of the introduction of the ALIGN Act by Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-Texas):

The ALIGN Act is an opportunity to once again put America first by making permanent the most pro-worker, pro-growth tax reform ever passed. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) allowed businesses, big and small, to immediately expense the full costs of investments like equipment, machinery, and buildings. In the two years after passage, the act raised wages by an average of $1,400 for blue-collar workers and boosted employment. The ALIGN Act would make full and immediate expensing permanent in the law, and expand the category of eligible expenses. At a time when workers and employers are working to recover from disastrous economic lockdowns, Americans need expanded opportunities now more than ever.

Unfortunately, President Biden has other plans. His administration’s tax and spending proposals would hamstring future generations and crush American workers with smaller paychecks and fewer jobs. By passing the ALIGN act and making common-sense tax reform permanent, lawmakers can make sure the American worker remains our top priority.
