America is blessed with a majestic natural heritage; the U.S. National Parks System was established in 1916 to honor this truth.
Sadly, many of our national parks suffer from aging infrastructure and more than $23 billion in deferred maintenance. To protect our treasured national lands, Congress must act.
On July 3, 2025, President Trump issued an Executive Order to “Make America Beautiful Again by Improving Our National Parks” and directed the National Parks Service to implement a foreign visitor fee. Now we need to codify it. National parks receive funding through admission fees and taxes. Both the PATRIOT Parks Act (Protecting America’s Treasures by Raising Inflow from Overseas Tourists Parks Act) (H.R.4604 / S.2308) and the Great American Outdoors Act 250 (H.R.9250), would require foreign visitors to pay higher entry fees than citizens which would go toward park maintenance. Revenue would go toward park maintenance and restoration and ensure fees remain low for Americans without increasing taxes.
Congress must codify the foreign visitor fee by passing legislation to restore our national parks. These bills have both been introduced in Congress already and need to receive a vote before the end of the year to be signed into law before the end of this Congress.
