South Carolina Congressman is Perfect on Heritage Action's Scorecard
Washington - Last week, Congressman Jeff Duncan (R-SC) became the first Member of Congress to receive a perfect score on Heritage Action for America's newly released legislative scorecard, which is a comprehensive and revealing barometer of a lawmaker's willingness to fight for conservative policies in Congress.
"Congratulations to Congressman Duncan. We commend him for his consistent and steadfast conservatism in Congress," Heritage Action's CEO Michael A. Needham said. "The people of South Carolina's 3rd district are fortunate to have a rock-solid conservative fighting on their behalf."
Congressman Duncan secured the perfect score when he co-sponsored three pieces of conservative legislation last week: the GSE Bailout Elimination and Taxpayer Protection Act (H.R.1182); the Welfare Reform Act of 2011 (H.R.1167); and, the Defending America's Affordable Energy and Jobs Act (H.R.750).
"We are tough graders and we don't apologize for it," Needham continued. "Being a conservative is more than voting right on the big issues, it also requires voting right on the small issues and pushing marquee conservative legislation that would get our country back on track. To date, Jeff Duncan has done this better than anybody."
Heritage Action's legislative scorecard will provide people with information, show them why it matters and enable easy sharing to spread the word. Along with Heritage Action's other tools, it will allow Americans to hold their Members of Congress accountable and ensure they are fighting for freedom, opportunity, prosperity, and civil society.
