Conservatives on Offense: Opportunity for All, Favoritism to None

The culture in Washington must change.

And if we do the right things in the coming months conservatives have a real opportunity to start calling the shots. It’s time to go on offense. That is why we created a road map called the Conservative Policy Agenda.

Policy experts at The Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action’s team have designed a new Conservative Policy Agenda that focuses on building three core ideas: a strong economy, a strong society, and a strong America.  Our goal is to create opportunity for all, but favoritism to none.

But we didn’t stop there. Our Capitol Hill team made sure than all 535 Representatives and Senators got a boarding pass–a pocket-sized summary–before they left town for the August congressional recess.

And here’s your version: the boarding pass we handed Members of Congress for the August recess.

We encourage you to discuss these policies with your Members as you attend meetings and town halls over the next few weeks. Please reach out to our team if you have questions.

  1. It’s much simpler than all of that. The direct message is: Don’t make more laws until you enforce the ones we already have.

    • Executive Branch enforces laws. Rogue president selectively refuses and creates his own. Congress can either use power of purse to unfund abusive and lawless agencies or impeach and convict. The latter won’t happen. The former requires more congressional courage than these folks have. We the People must get to work by electing good representatives and considering a Constitutional Convention to better embed the intentions of our founders and their documents. It took a civil war to realize the promos of the Declaration of Independence.

        • Thanks. I also wrote to Heritage about their “Boarding Pass” because it was missing a category: to build and maintain an incomparably superior military to defend America interests and allies.

      • Definitely. We must do the following: 1) Elect patriots, and hold their feet to the fire. 2) Require our representatives–and then senators to impeach and convict B.O. 3) Politely, persistently insist that our State legislators nullify and reject the many illegal federal bills, programs, and policies. 4) Hold the Convention of States you alluded to.

  2. Think that Federal Government has to be reduced by eliminating IRS EPA and
other agencies that are totally worthless. Privatize USP service; AmTrack go for
term limits ; get rid of useless lifetime politicians good example Reid, Pelosi; Boxer
Rangel. Americans should all read THE FREE AND WILD PIGS OF THE OKEFENOKEE SWAMP … This allegory of the pigs has a serious moral lesson

    • Agree, Oti. When it comes to the Federal Government, LACK of quantity has a winning quality all its own. We must downsize that leviathan, to save our very nation, and tell the Dems we’re doing it “for the children” and grandchildren. The sheer increasingly intrusive momentum of our out of control, 3 million strong Executive Branch is an awesome and destructive force to behold. Taking a machete to the overgrown bureaucracy will pay immediate dividends in terms of increased liberty. Create a list of the agencies and entire cabinet departments to downsize or eliminate and go after the worst offenders first. Push the power and the decision making down to the states and local governments where we have a chance at accountability. Above all do not underestimate the entrenched bureaucratic and employee union opposition to any downsizing or even hiring freeze. So we must proceed smartly, Gov Scott Walker style, not take dumb lunges, Ahnold style… Ahnold who got his lunch handed to him when he tried to go at the Cali government ills with one big push. Be smart and be determined, once we’ve won some game changing elections in the next couple years.

Agree with you 100%. It is time we let all our elected officials that
we the people pay their salaries; therefore they will be held accountable for their promises during campaigning; if not they will
be fired not re-elected. Americans its time you stop being sheep being led to captivity by all the elected Judas goats.

  3. I think that all sections of the Conservative Policy Agenda as you present them have a lot going for them. If all of these things were agreed upon by both houses of Congress, within the Partisan Political System as it now operates, or fails to operate, that would be great or miraculous.

The root problem in things not going right, is what it has always been. That is the Partisan System. This selfish, permissive, failed and corrupt system is what prevents virtually everything within our government from working for the benefit of the nation and its legal citizens, as it should.

  4. Still upset that the GOP blocked Ron Paul at their conventions. Reciting and learning the U.S. Constitution should be mandatory in 5th, 6th and 7th grades in every school, hows that for equality. End the IRS, insist no ConCon, and repeal the 17th amendment.
    🙂

  5. WE HAVE TO START PLAYING HARDBALL, JUST LIKE THE DEMORATS DO !!
THEY LIE, CHEAT, AND, STEAL ALL THE TIME, AND IF WE WANT TO WIN WE HAVE TO DO THE SAME OR BETTER. WHY DO YOU THINK THEY DON’T WANT VOTER ID, THEY WANT TO CHEAT AT THE BALLOT BOX AND THEY DO. A DEAD PERSONS VOTE COUNTS JUST AS MUCH AS A LIVE PERSONS DOES AND THEY PROVE IT EVERY ELECTION.

  6. this does nothing…FIRST, we gotta change the sausage making machine inside the beltway. All this does is flail at the ‘indicators’ (results of the problem). Any meaningful change must deal with the ‘elites’, the ‘wizards behind the curtain’, and their UN-Constitutional, UN-accountable rules, committees, agencies, and dept’s that the elected rep’s of ‘WE, the People’, who they represent, have ‘delegated’ their jobs to.
All we get for our vote (that we are ‘allowed’ once every 2 yrs) is our ‘new guy’s’
5 min on the podium to present OUR concerns, then he and his ideas are lost in
the Gulag of our fed gov’ts political games. I also notice there’s NO MENTION
of our Justice INDUSTRY, ‘liberty and justice for all’… IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT,
disgusting. OR the current ‘Politics’ INDUSTRY, if you’re not part of a
political party, established or grassroots, who have ‘ACCESS’ to the
discussion, you’re not heard sep for once every 2 yrs unless you make a BIG
    donation.
With all the technology and instant communication of today we oughta throw everything inside the beltway into the Potomac, except for the Constitution and START OVER. Our elected reps oughta be sent home to their districts/states and work fm there, where they have to listen to their constituents instead of the lobbyists, after all this ain’t 1776 anymore.
OK,this agenda is good, and as usual for Heritage, well thought out, but let’s get first things first, then start on this shopping list.

    • Very well stated, if it can’t be fixed, scrap it and start over, with if you don’t do the job we ask you to do, your outta here.

  7. Why is no reference made, on the Heritage Action Boarding Pass, to maintaining an unrivaled military to defend America’s interests and allies?

  8. We have to do more to move the younger generation away from their “social justice” perspective to a more conservative outlook. I think it’s natural for them to think in terms of social justice, but they don’t realize how this way of thinking truly impacts them and their futures. We have to express our policy agenda within a context they will connect with at this point in their lives. These messages need particular placement in the advertising marketplace where this generation accesses their information. We need to sway this demographic voter base to embrace our fiscal conservatism, freedom from big government, national security and beliefs about illegal immigration.
