17 Senators Voted to Save the American Dream

Last night, the Senate voted on five different budgets, including Senator Mike Lee’s (R-UT) Budget (S.Con.Res.44), a plan based off of The Heritage Foundation’s “Saving the American Dream.”

The Heritage Foundation analyzed the budget dynamics:

“Compare the President’s proposal — and Reid’s total lack of a proposal — with the four plans offered by conservatives in Congress, chief among them being Senator Mike Lee’s (R-UT) budget, which mirrors the bold and thorough reforms The Heritage Foundation first proposed in its Saving the American Dream plan. That includes limiting the size of the federal government, reforming entitlement programs, and simplifying the federal tax code in an effort to restore our nation’s economic prosperity and ensure that future generations are not saddled with today’s debt.”

Although we cannot reverse decades of mismanagement overnight, yesterday’s vote creates a solid foundation. It is now clear that there are good ideas out there on how to fix our country; unfortunately, none of them come from our President Obama and his partisan allies in the Senate. The vote results are below, along with a list of the Republicans who voted correctly.

The Lee Budget: Rejected by a vote of 17-82
Heritage Action: YES

Republicans Voting Correctly:
Sen. John Barrasso (WY)
Sen. Dan Coats (IN)
Sen. Tom Coburn (OK)
Sen. Mike Crapo (ID)

It is about time this congress wakes up. congratulations to those who had the strength to sand up to Reed and his cohorts.

  • Robert Hirschmann

I applaud the 17 Senators. But, because of the democratic majority, it is a lost cause. In November, when we vote in more conservative republicans, and get rid or the Obama clone Harry Reid, we can get a budget passed. As a Nevadan I’m truly ashamed that the people reelected Reid. I surely didn’t vote for him!

    • SusanKeener

His reelection had to be the result of corruption. Is Nevada doing anything to prevent that in November?

      • http://twitter.com/CmmnSnse1 CmmnSnse

this upcoming election season will be the most corrupt ever. I believe it will be violent and steeped in fear for those going to the polls. Once on the ‘NET’, it will be worse. Sparks of Hope against Infernos of Destruction to America!

        Very good question

  • grannylake

My sincere thanks to all of the Senators who voted with the majority of Americans who hold the American Dream close to thei hearts.
It’s sad that so many politicians are so far removed from “the people” that they forgot about the American spirit; that they now believe they are the served not the servants; and that they are more concern about their political career than what’s good for America.
God Bless you Senators and God Bless America.

I am from Oklahoma and I couldn’t be more proud of my senators. They say Oklahoma is the reddest of red states. Tomorrow I go to a grassroots Republican lunch with some friends who are politically active and we can be proud of Sen. Coburn and Sen. Inhofe for their vote.

  • KC135TopBoom

Well, I see neither one of my two Senators from Texas voted for this budget. Since there were 17 ‘yays’ and 82 ‘nays’, that means both Senator Cornyn and Hutchenson voted against it.

    DAMN YOU TWO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • donrmorgan

I understand Bill Nelson voting against ( he’s Gone this election) but Rubio will have to explain to a lot of us why he voted against

  • hitthedeck

Why don’t we just admit it! It takes two to tango but the democrats can’t dance.

    • thinkingramma

      Correction–won’t dance.

  • JimLanier

As Texan, while I am proud of the action taken by the 17 Republican senators, it is well past time for conservative Democrats to get on board with something that they can/will support or if they propose something the Republicans can support that is fine also. Americans are very tired of a congress that is displays nothing but paralysis. Where are the leaders (i.e. statesmen) who can rise above paralysis and display true leadership? There have been many examples of Democrat and Republican leaders forging ways to work together and that is what our country needs desperately. Come on guys wake up and realize what a terrible dysfunctional congress we have and yet we are the worlds example of capitalism?

  • ahb111

I wish I could congratulate my senators or my representative but lucky me I live in California we are stuck with Boxer and Finestein and our rep is Joe Baca another big lib. No matter what I do they will not get off the progressive wagon.

But then we also have Gov Moon Beam too. We are going to go into the great abyss here unless we get help from the Man above. Please pray for California.

The road America is on is not sustainable, and my two Texas senators needs to explain their vote against the bill. We need some leadership, and it seems that the Republicians do not have a strong leader. I am beginning to believe my two senators just go with the flow, (followers not leaders).
    We need to restart congress.

I agree. Cornyn was probably working on his amnesty plan and KBH was AWOL.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002714777226 Mike Roberts

Kay and John not only let Texas down, they fundamentally OBSTRUCTED JUSTICE just like the administration is doing in the illegal immigration debacle ! We must have folks in office who will begin at the start of a problem and work forward, eliminating all the ridiculous fluff previously set forth. IT MUST BE DONE ! Kay is retiring and we have a good slate of totally conservative candidates, excluding some of the proven RHINOS, that are willing to replace her. My only wish is that they would work for a whole lot less than the salary and benefits their predecessors have installed for them and work to reduce ALL government salaries by 66% just for starters.
John on the other hand is a likable guy and does some good but this budget fiasco will be his downfall, I AWAIT HIS EXPLANATION !

      • 2636

I didn’t see my 2 senators from NC either Richard Burr, and Kay Hagan; guess the’ve agreed with the liberals. we need to take our country back, and purge out all the representatives that don’t stand for liberty and freedom.

  • AngrySgt

I ask you why my Michigan senators did not back this? Carl Levin & Debbie Stabenow should have the people of their state at heart and stop be obstructionist. We need a budget to hold our leaders accountable. Stabenow is going down to defeat come Nov. and the next time Levin is up he’s going to go down in flames too. Every time I contact these two they always have an excuse, but the time for excuses is over and we will terminate these two so the senate can get something passed. I hope Harry Reid is on his last legs too, He will not get some 20 or more bills called to the floor for a vote and he is the reason we cannot get this economy moving.

I am from Connecticut and I must say that I am ashamed at our two Senators we have in this beautiful state. As always, they voted against this proposal I just hope the people of CT get with the program and vote them out next election. Thank you Senator Lee for your vision for our country.

  • Larry Bailey

My Maine Senators Snow and Collins did what they often do…abandoned Conservatism and the GOP and voted with their good friends…the Democrats. I am glad Snowe is leaving and can’t wait for Collins to leave. Even if a we get wild eyed Liberals in their place, we will know what they are.

I am ashamed to not see any Texas Senators name on the list as both our Senators are Republicans…… guess this means they are Just “RINO” s.

    • LeRoy Bishaw

Ditto. I’m new to Texas politics, are the two senators from Texas RINOs?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Peggy-Griffin/100000392233132 Peggy Griffin

I’m from Indiana. I see that Senator Coats did the right thing, but as usual I don’t see RINO Lugar’s name listed. He might still be home licking his wounds, since he got soundly beaten by Richard Mourdock in the early May election here, but most likely he cast his vote with Harry Reid and the rest of the Obama worshippers. Freedom–loving Hoosiers do not suffer fools gladly, and we’re sick of the self-serving, short-sighted good ol’ boys in both parties who think they are smarter and wiser than the people they are supposed to be serving and the Constitution they’re supposed to be protecting!

yes, we must take our country; I noticed our NC representatives did,t agree with our other conservatives, What happened to Richard burr, and Kay Hagen from NC. Shame on you both

  • Michael McVety

Marco Rubio… Marco Rubio…. Where art thou Marco Rubio?

    • KalevEfrayim

Rubio is a NeoCon and fooled the Tea Party that supported him. He must be defeated in 2 years and he MUST not be nominated as the GOP VP candidate as he is NOT a natural born citizen.

  • GAR54

name the 82 who voted against it.

  • artahab

Looks like Michigan Senators are stil blind or unwilling.

  • John Sharp

I liked the comment about producing a ‘list’ of those that DID NOT VOTE..OR VOTED AGAINST THIS MEASURE..What category is Marco Rubio listed ? As fir my state.Washington..we’ve got Pork barrel Patty Murray & George Soros’s “Apollo Alliance Group” Original Board member..Maria Cantwell…Who..like the “Lame Stream Media” Are ‘HELL BENT” on ”’ fundamentally changing America” to a Socialistic, Marxist..non FREE MARKET” agenda..Getting Obama OUT OF OFFICE IN 2012 IS only the beginning of what we need to accomplish to get OUR COUNTRY BACK!!

    • beadstallcup

Your are so right and the people of Washington need to be “HELL BENT” on disposing of both of them!! No ifs, no ands, no buts. The time for trying to talk to these people is past. And that’s it.

Looks like the Texas Senators did NOT care enough to stand with the 17. One of ours is retiring, the other, I am voting against.

    • marspolarlander

Cornyn is not up for re-election this time – we have a long wait on that, I have read he wants to be the Whip in the next Congress.

  • sarcoq

It distresses me that Texas Senators Cornyn and Bailey-Hutchison are conspicuously absent from the list of 17.

    • Summer

I don’t see NC in that mix either!

  • beadstallcup

The politicians who did NOT sign with the 17 American patriots, are among the corrupt, the self-serving con artists, who have one hand in the taxpayer till and their other hand around the throats of the American people. They need to be removed from our halls of government. Removed! One way or the other!! The American people should try to work with the 17 Senators who signed Mike Lee’s Bill. The time for talk and palaver with the other “Senators” is past… No discussion, no negotiating, no courtesy, no nothing. No quarter for them. The boot is what we owe them. The boot right up their lying, thieving rear ends.

  • barbarakelly

I have made a copy of this page. The rest of these corrupt Senators better set up and pay notes. Their career is on the line now. There is no more time. If they didn’t vote to save the country they are OUT, COME Nov .I’m fighting mad and I’m not going to take their excuses any more. They have treated us like we have rocks in our head. Also people this is important. We as God to be with us on this so we can save our country and put this right again. I will not let them destroy my GRANDCHILDREN > never. I DIE TRYING TO DESTROY THEM LIKE THEY ARE TRYING TO DESTROY US. After all to them we are too many we need depopulation. We also need to fight the UN AGENDA 21

Don’t see Marco Rubio’s name either. What’s up with that?

    • merrygale

There were actually 3 plans out there that they were voting on. One was Paul Ryan’s plan, one was Mike Lee’s and I can’t remember who the other one was. Perhaps Rubio voted for one of the other plans. This plan by Mike Lee was the one endorsed by Heritage.

Unfortunately I live in New York State, very BLUE. My phone calls fall on deaf ears. All I can do is pray to god that Nov. 2012 that enough Americans also support our conservative efforts. We need to take back our country from these liberal, sometimes socialists.

    • keepyourpower

      WE cannot win Jimmy.

One of Obama’s big monetary supporters is the owner of the company that will count our Votes! And it is in SPAIN! We will not be able to monitor the company to make sure the votes are counted safely, and truthfully.

      So…HOW can we win?

At least I have one real Conservative Senator, DeMint, we are looking to rid ourselves of the RINO Graham the next time he is up for reelection. A great propect is in the House, Rep. Duncan!

All of the so-called TEA party Republicans that were voted into the House have turned on We the People! They have become the Establishment. They have gone to the Dark Side of the Republican party.

Every one of them have voted for the extension of the Patriot Act, NDAA, and the Cyber Security Act…all three taking away our rights under the Constitution! And thus…giving all that POWER to Obama!!!!

How can you say Don’t forget those two?

Keepourpower, We will win, just because obama once the counting done in Spain only says it will be a big issue before the election. We are the power, is so low in respect he won’t be able to do anything about it. I’m for a paper trail across the US.

As far as this video is concerned, he said nothing about where the cuts are to be made. This was a nothing video, while I agree that a budget has to be passed and any start is a good start, I still don’t like listening to promotion speeches.

I can not understand why the Senators and Congressman can’t do their job and remove Erick Holder and Obama from office. They are not above the law. It is time the Law be upheld in this country. If they cannot do their job, than the people need to demand that the Senate and the Congress be removed. GOD BLESS AMERICA. Rev. E.T.
