RELEASE: Conservative Mandate

Conservative Mandate
Heritage Action to Aggressively Push Conservative Agenda

Washington, D.C. – Heritage Action for America congratulates those newly elected conservative members and stands ready to work them on their conservative mandate.

“Tonight’s results mark a turning point in American politics,” Heritage Action’s CEO Michael A. Needham said.  “During the past decade, Americans witnessed a bipartisan tendency to spend too much, centralize control and minimize individual liberty.  Americans rejected that philosophy tonight.”

“But the fight has only just begun,” Needham continued.  “Now, we must translate this conservative mandate into conservative policy victories in Washington.  Heritage Action will work to ensure tonight’s conservative victory is not co-opted by the Washington establishment.”

Heritage Action will work aggressively to push a conservative agenda in Congress and hold Members accountable to their electoral mandate using paid issue advertisements, local grassroots activity, online activist tools and earned media.  For more information, visit heritageforamerica.org.

  1. Let us start by asking the President why he is spending $200M a day for a trip to India while Americans across the country are hurting?

  3. LETS ALSO ASK WHY IS IT THAT PEOPLE THAT CANT EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH, NEVER PAID TAXES, ARE ELIGIBLE FOR ALL KINDS OF BENEFITS, MEDICAL, PRESCRIPTIONS, FOOD, HOUSING AND OUR ELDERLY THAT HAVE WORKED MOST OF THEIR LIVES CANT EVEN AFORD THEIR MEDICENES?

    • Priority of benifits should go to those who have contributed. A clear distinction should be made between productive citizens and freeloaders

      • OK Don Holler, your feet are to the fire, It will be interesting to see whether Action for America’s bite is really as bad as it’s bark and will it really hold the newly elected congress of it’s choosing to conservative ideals or if A for A will start rationalizing and making excuses for it’s guys as usually happens after the election, re: 1994.

  7. I say all members of the House and Senate take pay and benefit cuts and accept term limits! After all if not for them….none of the crazy spending by both parties could have happened. They can never vote themselves a pay raise only we the people can. We must have term limits. They must accept pay cuts and benefit cuts that way we can weed out the ones who want to serve and the ones who want the power. And finally if it is not in the consitution or addressed by amending the consitution it cannot pass or even be presented!!!! We the People demand it and they work for us!!!!

    • I couldn’t have said it better. You go, Rhonda.
And WHY are we obligated to continue to pay elected officials ANYTHING once they have left office!!! Talk about a waste of tax dollars!

      Heritage,
Please remind the Republicans, daily, that we didn’t vote FOR them, we voted to save our country. Now they need to get to work conservatively and put back together our free enterprise system. ( A job would be nice.) Like Rhonda and many other have said, “they work for us!!” They need to believe that now.

  9. We are getting tired of Obama fighting us,…in tearing down the Constitution, suing Arizona instead of helping them, and having Czars that do not represent what the U.S. stands for. The Czars that Obama has around them are just as much at fault as Obama and all of the other progressive liberals.
    Keep up the fight!

    • Agree. Tear down the unaccountable regulatory apparatus and increase congressional oversight of the executive branch

  11. I don’t think the powers that be, thought the People would actually wake up and question their authority. Well we did, now we need to stay awake and insure that the Elected Officials do the job we want, not the job they want. I’ve learned a lot this election, and I will be watching, we need all Americans to do the same.

    • I dont think the powers that be recognize that their authority is in question. All the more reason to increase pressure on them and not rest on our laurels

  13. We must first demand that our “conservative” representatives and senators understand that we did not send them there to simply vote no on taxes and spending and Obamacare, we sent them there to lead others to vote no on these issues. Voting no is useless if the issue passes anyway.

    • We need to IMMEDIATELY squash any and all discussion on compromise in the media and our own lexicon. We need a resounding voice that says Repeal Obamacare!

  15. Let us start the day after the election and the resounding conservative victory by demanding that Congress investigate President Obama’s inconceivable expenditure of $ 200 million per day for a ten day trip to Asia. That amounts to$ 2 billion dollars of taxpayer money that does not exist!

Congress must investigate this total disregard of executive responsibility and abuse of authority at a time when 10 million Americans are out of work and our national debt is 13 trillion dollars.

If an investigation can demonstrate what appears to be a wanton insult to the electorate and to everyone who values the principles on which this country was founded, President Obama must be impeached.

Dereliction of duty and disregard of the people who entrusted him with the awesome responsibility to lead and defend this country are certainly sufficient grounds for a withdrawal of his mandate. He must be made to answer for this latest insult of the electorate and his disregard of the duties of his office.

      • Article II, Section 1 (5) of the U.S. Constitution: “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible of the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

Obama has REFUSED to PROVE his Constitutional Eligibility to hold the office of POTUS/Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America!!!!!

  19. For too long we have been complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens have no idea that members of Congress can retire with full pay after only one term, that they don’t pay into Social Security and that they have specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment). “Ordinary” citizens must live under all those laws.

The latest travesty is that Congress will exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered…in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn’t seem quite right. We do not have an elite class that is above the law. I truly don’t care if they are Democrats, Republicans, Independents or whatever. The self-serving must stop.

This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come. Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States “.

Each person contact a minimum of twenty people on their email address list, in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In approximately three days, all people in the United States of America will have the Message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

  21. vigilance by a countries citizens to monitor and hold their elected officials accountable is something that Thomas Jefferson said is never ending to maintain a free society and protect it’s liberties.I hope and trust the people now take serious their eternal role in keeping this great country the republic our founders envisioned for the generations to come, that coupled with holding our elected officials to the standards necessary to uphold the offices with which we entrusted them with.

  23. Congress makes me sick, they spend all of our social security surplus to the tune of over a trillion dollars since the seventies. They’ve put IOU’s in, what a joke, they’ll never pay this money back. Then they have the nerve to tell us social security is in trouble and we can’t get any raises. It’s time to vote incumbents out for some fresh blood, and if they don’t do the job we want, vote them out. Keep doing this until they get it right. How can it possibly cost 200 million dollars a day for Obama to visit India, that’s insane. When are they going to start taking care of the hard working, tax paying, middle class. If we stick together and vote accordingly we can start to turn things around in our favor. Remember, they are supposed to be working for us.

  25. NOW is the time for every Senator and Congressman to be held personally accountable for how he/she votes on ALL issues important to the American People.
Keep the government on track for what it was originally intended to do and let other issues be handled outside of government. Also, make EVERY American a first class citizen socially and quit using religion to justify those injustices.

  27. What I want to know is why we don’t have legal grounds to impeach government individuals who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and have
violated it over and over again.

  29. Our work has just begun! Now for 2012! Here is where it is for me! A great American candidate – not the usual suspects like Romney, etc. that were wanting to run again. No woman either. We are not ready for that yet! We need someone like Ryan, Pence, or Rubio or Christy. We can do it if we stick to someone fairly new on the scene with Tea Party ideas as their background without them stating it! Let’s roll, America!!!

  33. The tacit has become explicit. If a tree falls in the woods and there is no one there to hear it, does it still make a sound? A silent conservative majority in the woods is a majority just the same. This time the nation was there to witness the sound.
