Healthcare

Passed back in 2010, Obamacare made dramatic changes to the health insurance industry that continues to negatively impact realtors. Proponents of Obamacare claimed it would make health care more affordable for more people, but the opposite has happened.

Instead of expanding health insurance coverage, Obamacare forced millions of individuals, many real estate agents included, off their private plans and doctors and onto more expensive Obamacare exchanges. Due to the employer mandate, businesses have also been forced to either lay off their employees or reduce them to part-time work to avoid the Obamacare penalty. Small businesses are now afraid to expand and hire more workers due to the added costs.

Congress must act now to fully repeal Obamacare and enact patient-centered, market-based health care reform that empowers individuals, families, and businesses to determine the kind of health insurance they want and where they want to purchase it. Repealing Obamacare will revitalize a competitive individual health insurance market and allow businesses to grow and hire more workers once again.
