As #Shutdown Lingers, Democrat Senators Shut Out Constituents' Voices

Blog Articles · Oct 7, 2013

It is disturbing that some Senators are refusing to engage with their constituents on an issue as catastrophic as Obamacare. It's vital that our representatives hear our voices. It's bad enough that President Obama and Sen. Reid have chosen to shut down the government to preserve Obamacare; Senators' decision to shut out their constituents' voices adds insult to injury.

Heritage Action has an ongoing ad campaign to tell Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK), Sen. Mark Pryor (D-AR), Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) to stop working for President Obama and Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) and start working for their constituents.

Conservative activists have been calling their representatives to tell them to stop Obamacare, and several of them took the initiative to call their senators as well. After they made the call, they told us about their call experience.

Of course, this is not an exhaustive list of senators, but of the notes we received from our activists informing us of how their calls went, this is the data we have.

Unfortunately, several supposedly "moderate" Democratic senators have closed their offices to calls.

All of the Republican senators that were called have kept their offices open to calls, and three Democratic senators, Sen. Feinstein, Sen. Casey, and Sen. Gillibrand have as well.

Here is the complete list of all 22 Senators called:
