Pres. Obama Doesn’t Care About Jobs
Remember how just days ago, President Obama delayed the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline in order to keep environmentalists on his side – also delaying 20,000 immediate construction jobs? Well, he’s at it again.
Once again, President Obama has shown that getting the radical environmentalist vote is more important than allowing Americans to get back to work. We’ve seen it with the moratorium on offshore drilling (that despite administration claims, is still lagging today), and now he’s doing it with shale oil.
Today, President Obama’s United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) delayed a decision to allow shale gas drilling in the Utica and Marcellus Shale formations in Ohio. They are rethinking a 2006 Forest Plan in order to see how the drilling would affect groundwater. Hmm, isn’t that the same reason they delayed the Keystone pipeline?
In both instances, environmentalists’ concerns were put ahead of the 14 million Americans who are out of work. And in both instances, all the groundwork had already taken place; all the environmental factors were looked at and the safest plan was chosen. But to President Obama and his administration, that doesn’t matter. He wants all these decisions to be delayed – conveniently – until after the 2012 elections.
By delaying the Keystone pipeline, America will lose out on 20,000 construction jobs, not to mention the countless oil jobs that would be created all along the pipeline. By delaying the Ohio shale gas drilling, over 200,000 Americans will lose out on jobs by 2015.
If jobs are the top priority and not the election – as President Obama claims – then he will stop putting up roadblocks for Americans who want to work.
