White House Won’t Offer Plan
Well, we knew that. What we didn’t know is that the White House doesn’t understand what a plan is. Yesterday, Press Secretary Jay Carney gave this rare, candid answer to NBC reporter Chuck Todd’s question about why President Obama hasn’t released his own plan:
“You need it written down?”
Apparently, President Obama and his administration think that vague speeches and rhetoric amount to a plan. As the CBO reported “we don’t estimate speeches.”
Hopefully the White House has now learned (2 and a half years in) that detailed, physical proposals need to be offered in order to be scored by the CBO and analyzed by the American people.
So perhaps the President has learned one thing so far in his term. Next lesson: tax cuts don’t add money to the deficit.
