How does the Sentinel Program work?
To become a Sentinel, you complete our influence profile. After we help you get started, you begin reporting your activity using this form. We’ll review your reports and give you Sentinel points in one of six categories. These points qualify you to become a Sentinel.
Here are the categories and some example work in each:
- Local: going to meetings and building your local conservative network.
- Media: letters to the editor, radio call ins, Op-Eds.
- Congress: call, email, or meet with your Members of Congress.
- Recruit: invite others to become Sentinels and earn 10% of their points.
- Online: Twitter, Facebook, blogs, and comments on heritageaction.com.
- Other: working for conservative accountability? Earn Sentinel points.
Sentinel membership will be merit-based. By earning 1000 points in three of these six categories, you will become a Sentinel. To maintain your Sentinel status, you need to earn 1000 points in three of these categories each subsequent year.
How do I sign up?
Signing up for Sentinel is as easy as filling out our short Influence Profile survey. We ask for your email because that’s how we primarily communicate with you. The other questions will help us connect you with the right kinds of activity based on how you can be influential in your area.
When do I officially become a Sentinel?
After you complete your Influence Profile, you begin reporting your activity. After you complete three categories of activity, you are a Sentinel. We will mail you a Sentinel Kit, with additional resources and tools for you to be the Firewall for Freedom. Your Sentinel Kit will help you engage your Member of Congress, effectively canvass neighborhoods, use new media, and strategically share the conservative message with friends, family and neighbors.
How do I stay a Sentinel?
You need to report enough activity in four of the six categories, every year, to remain a part of the program.
Will you help me?
Of course! Sentinels are not alone: becoming a Sentinel means you will have direct contact with the Heritage Action political team. We will help you ensure your work is effective and you are achieving conservative accountability.
How does reporting actions work?
Sentinels are able to report their actions by completing an online form. Our system will track your actions as you work to earn our Sentinel status and advance through the program. We individually review every report you submit and will assign appropriate credit. You’ll receive an email notification when points are assigned. You can always check your status using this form.
