Tax Cuts Expire

At the end of the year, numerous tax provisions expire, including the tax cuts passed in 2001 and 2003, which were extended for two years in 2009.  The so-called Bush Tax Cuts have been subject to numerous falsehoods and the extension of those rates will be subject to a bitter legislative battle after the November elections.

Conservatives should be wary of a grand bargain that exchanges making some tax rates permanent, while allowing other taxes to increase.
