Sen. Ted Cruz Explains Why He Doesn’t Regret the Defund Obamacare Effort

On Sunday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% told ABC’s Jonathon Karl why he doesn’t regret the defund Obamacare effort and why it was President Obama and Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) 13% that shut down the government, not Republicans who tried to give the American people from the train wreck that is Obamacare.  That’s what the defund Obamacare effort was all about.  No conservative ever advocated for a government shutdown.  Instead, conservatives were calling to fully fund the government but defund Obamacare.  The Democrats refused to negotiate.

If we were to compile a list of all the news articles discussing what an Obamacare debacle has been, it would be very, very long… and very depressing.  As conservatives, we can at least look back to the months leading up to the Obamacare and HealthCare.gov rollout, and say we tried to stop it before it was too late.  Now, undoing Obamacare’s damage will be much more challenging, but we won’t stop until Obamacare has been repealed and replaced with market-based healthcare.
