Senate Farm Bill Amendments Vote Recap

This week, the Senate voted on several amendments to the Agriculture Reform, Food, and Jobs Act (S.3240), more commonly referred to as the farm bill. Heritage Action key voted 5 out of more than 70 amendments; one was the RAISE Act, one would have made “check-off” programs voluntary, another would have struck a duplicative catfish inspection program, the fourth would have reformed critical habitat designation, and another would have capped food stamp spending. The key voted amendments are listed below, along with a list of the Republicans who voted incorrectly and the Democrats who voted correctly (albeit some for the wrong reasons):

The Paul-Inhofe “SNAP” Amendment*: Rejected by a vote of 65-33
Heritage Action: YES

*Our key vote was on the amendment itself, however, the actual vote was for a motion to table (i.e., kill), which we opposed, and will reflect as such in our scorecard.
