Our Letter Opposing LOST Signed by Notable Foreign Policy Leaders

Yesterday, Senator Kerry convened the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to hold a hearing on the Law of the Sea Treaty.  Stay tuned for our recap of the hearing.

As part of a broad conservative effort to defeat LOST, Heritage Action organized a hard-hitting letter outlining the reasons why the treaty is fatally flawed went to all Senators on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and it is now part of the Congressional Record. The letter was co-signed by former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, former Ambassador John Bolton, and former Attorney General Edwin Meese, among many other notable foreign policy leaders.

Dear Senator Kerry:

As former government officials with significant national security experience, we write in opposition to U.S. accession to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, also known as the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST).
