President Obama: YES on Senate Highway Bill
Yesterday, the Senate voted 85-11 to proceed to a two-year, $109 billion transportation bill. Heritage Action, of course, has been an outspoken critic of the bill because it spends far too much. It also falls short on necessary reforms and includes offsets that should be completely unacceptable to conservatives.
Not surprisingly, President Obama has come out in favor of the bill! This is a pretty big deal because the President tends to remain on the sidelines, preferring to denigrate Congress. One can only infer he really likes this bill!
The Administration supports Senate passage of S. 1813 to provide much needed certainty and funding for the Nation’s surface transportation programs.
According to Politico MT, certain Republican Senators who support the bill do not welcome the President’s support.
Heritage Action says NO.
President Obama says YES.
As they say, we report, you decide!
