A Fundamental Choice: Establishment Status Quo or Conservatism

Over the weekend, the Washington Post reported that President Obama wants to turn anti-Wall Street anger on Republicans.  And it could work unless Republicans run away from the Washington Establishment and embrace conservatism as the Tea Party has.  From the article:

President Obama and his team have decided to turn public anger at Wall Street into a central tenet of their reelection strategy.

The move comes as the Occupy Wall Street protests gain momentum across the country and as polls show deep public distrust of the nation’s major financial institutions.

On Real Clear Politics this morning, Heritage Action’s CEO Michael Needham and COO Tim Chapman write:

Americans’ dissatisfaction with government, record-high disapproval of Congress and frustration with the current and past Administration is a reflection of the fact that our current political system is one that favors the powerful at the expense of those striving to build towards the American dream.

The Bigs – Big Wall Street, Big Government, Big Labor, and Big Business – are all protected classes in the American political system. …

This corrupt nexus is at the heart of the dissatisfaction across the country towards Washington.

Mike and Tim end the piece by framing the fundamental choice before us:

The central question of this defining period of time in which we live: Will the Tea Party, with all its iconoclastic energy and goals, succeed in defeating the Establishment? For the country’s sake, let’s hope the answer is yes.

If we are to save the American dream, the answer must be yes.

Yes it will when the TEA “party” drops the “party” moniker and sticks to “MOVEMENT”

Now we become the TEAM. Members become the TEAM’sters. ADD the acronym USA for “Using Solid Accounting”. We get TEAM USA. This will generate so much confusion out there. What will the liberal Hate Speakers say…
“Destroy TEAM USA !!?” TEAM’sters don’t speak for us. And if the Teamsters union sues…who will they sue? You can’t sue a “movement” Team USA (sports) can’t tell a million American not to post signs saying “support TEAM USA” referring to a conservative political movement. So we need to be smart about the approach so people can’t flaggelate the TEA Movement with smart ass quips. (ie “Tea Baggers”) When someone does…play dumb…say “who…I have no idea what you’re talking about? Are you referring to TEAM USA?” and explain the acronym to them.
