August Surprise! More Obamacare Waivers
106 more Obamacare waivers have been granted.
The Obama Administration has said that it will stop granting waivers after September of this year, but those who have already received waivers can extend them through 2014. The first 1,366 waivers were one-year waivers that exempted businesses or organizations from a provision of Obamacare which requires employers to meet certain standards for providing healthcare – a costly provision that many companies would not immediately be able to afford.
However, this new batch of waivers are three-year waivers from the same provision. So now, instead of needing one year of freedom from Obamacare, select companies will get three years. How is this law good for the country if businesses need to be protected from its cost for three years?
