John Bryson…Who?

John Bryson has been nominated by President Obama to be the next Commerce secretary. More than commerce, Bryson seems to be a staunch proponent of government-subsidized clean energy. So one would have to ask, can he really make unbiased decisions in dealing with our current energy problems?

Bryson is currently board chairman of BrightSource Energy, a California-based solar company; he also served as CEO of Edison International, a California-based electricity company. President Obama also gave a glowing review of Bryson’s post-college founding of the Natural Resources Defense Council, an environmental group.

“As a young man with a degree in hand from a prestigious law school, John didn’t follow his friends to a blue chip law firm,” President Obama said. “John took a chance on an idea he cared about, and co-founded the Natural Resources Defense Council, which grew into a powerful and important voice in protecting the safety of our air and water.”

Sounds the same as when the press swoons over the President. Darrell Issa (R-CA) has called President Obama’s decision to nominate Bryson as deeply outoftouch with our current energy challenge.”

That is because gas prices are hovering around $4 a gallon, and focusing more taxpayer money on alternative energies that won’t be viable for years (if ever) won’t do anything to lower tax prices today and help families struggling to pay their bills. President Obama and the left still seem to hold firm on the idea that “investing” more and more of your money in alternative energy will ease the pain at the pump.

This seems like nothing more than a furthering of President Obama’s economically damaging environmental agenda.
