Driving the Day: Debt Ceiling Jockeying

Yesterday, the Treasury told Members of Congress they need to raise the debt ceiling by another $2 trillion.  That lofty amount would cover America’s rapidly accumulating debt until the next presidential election.

At the same time, Senator John Kyl (R-AZ) and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) sent a letter to Vice President Biden requesting more details from the White House on their debt ceiling intentions.

If this administration is serious about reducing deficits and rejecting typical Washington politics, President Obama will put his cards on the table.

  1. The way to stop adding to the debt is to, well, stop spending more than we have. In my view it is a serious mistake to raise the debt ceiling again.
