Driving the Day: Reid Calls Troop Bill a “Diversion”

Despite claims of progress, Congressional leaders left the White House last night without a deal on how to fund the government for the remainder of the fiscal year.  That means, House Republicans are likely to move forward with their troop funding bill, which would fund the military for the remainder of the fiscal year, keep the government fully operational for another week and cut another $12 billion in spending.

Yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Harry (D-NV) called the bill “another diversion.”  Let’s add this to Mr. Reid’s greatest hits, right along with saying “this war [in Iraq] is lost.”

As we said earlier this week, we can fight about spending cuts, tax increases and entitlement reform all we want – and we need to – but we should make sure our troops are taken care of.

Over at National Review, Andrew Stiles summed it up nicely

A befuddled Harry Reid (D., Nev.) threw a flash tantrum on the Senate floor… At this point, he’s simply reading off an old script. Republicans are united behind the one-week measure, dubbed “The Troop Funding Bill.” Even Tea Party favorite Rep. Mike Pence (R., Ind.) is on board, because “the troops comes first.”

  1. Harry Reid needs to be impeached for dereliction of his duties, as he swore to uphold by speaking the following oath:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

Obviously, Harry Reid is a liar, for he defies his oath daily. Further, we should not entrust him to safeguard the liberties of We the People much longer, for we shall lose them all. Since I do not live in NV, I can’t vote against this liar, however, under penalties of law I must live under the illegalities he rams through our Congress. The Legislative branch is supposed to do the bidding of all the citizens, to ensure their right to PURSUE life, liberty and happiness in not infringed, not those who pay the most. Where is our recourse?

The one clear requirement of the Government, as articulated throughout the Constitution, is ensuring a suitable national defense. If Reid and is other cohorts want to play games to weaken our defense, then he / they need to tried for treason under Article 3, Section 3?! Read the oath of office and its history here:

By all reasonable measures, especially in the past 3 years, both he and his party have done far greater harm to our country than Benedict Arnold did in his time. If duty, honor and country are no longer requirements for those who serve or to ensure the rule of law stands, then why do we need to continue following any laws this folks pass?
