  1. I called my senators (Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe) and left a message for them to oppose the START treaty vote. I did not speak to either one and was told by Senator Collins’ telephone screener that Senator Collins has not taken a position on this vote. Also, the screener for Senator Snowe would not commit to Senator Snowe’s position.

These are the responses that I always receive from these two.

    • I just got off the phone, and all I got from the Collins rep was” well all right then, I’ll pass it along” and from Senator Snowe rep “Thank you very much for calling, and I’ll pass it along”.
I mentioned their voting for Obama Care and Sotomayer, and Kagan nominations, …all being pushed through, by Obama.
They are both RINOS, Republicans in name only. I reminded the reps at both offices that if we lose the country, the Senators’ wealth won’t help them, as we all will lose.
They grandstand in front of the cameras but it is their vote that is what the controlled media doesen’t harp on like they do with all the lefty causes, and disasters to keep our focus away from the Senatorial votes,…..for Federal monies and grants. All the minority catering is for votes. If you cater to enough minorities you have a majority. Blacks, yellows, pinkos, and greens, not to mention the “rainbows”, such as Kagan. White is out and votes are in. Watch TV and decide who the leaders of the pack are. All are being replaced with “colors” from sitcoms, soaps and commercials, to news reporters. Religion is being attacked, along with our Constitution. Country music and Hollywood has turned to drugs and “diversity”. They confess and write a book about their “habits”, while the average person goes to jail.

    • Ditto. Warner and Webb have not “released a statement” on their position but the screener would be happy to take my opinion — which of course was to have both of them vote against the Treaty. Every time I call both of their offices I get the same speech (at least I know I wasn’t speaking to the same person)… they haven’t released a statement, they have not yet decided, blah blah blah. How convenient to never decide your position until it is time to vote… that way you don’t actually have to have a “point by point” discussion about your position with constitutents. I can’t wait for these two to be booted from office.

  3. I contacted the offices of Sen. Webb and Sen. Warner and reminded them that as a Navy veteran I strongly urged them to vote NO! on START with a reminder that I would be casting my own vote in November.

  5. I telephoned Senator Lindsay Graham’s office. She said she would pass along my message.

I also contacted my senators (North Carolina), Burr and Hagan. The staffer with whom I spoke in Sen. Burr’s office said he would pass along my message, that he believes Senator Burr is opposed to the treaty, and Sen. Hagan’s staffer said he would let the senator know.

  7. I called both of my Louisiana Senators (Vitter & Landrieu), spoke to an office aide in each case and expressed my opposition the “new START Treaty” and requested that the senator would vote against ratification of that treaty. Senator Vitter’s screener said that my opposition would be passed on to the senator, but did not received any commitment from Senator Landrieu’s screener.

  9. I called Sen. Voinovich’s office….they didn’t even take my name…typical of not caring who calls about what……..He hasn’t taken a position….will issue a statement when it comes to the floor.

    • also call Sen Voinovich…per staffer, no position yet…very lame senitor and always poor responce from his office for any item.

  11. I called San Isakson and spoke to one of ades. Delivered my message of “No” and left my phone number and email address. For Sen. Chambliss office, I guess the were having mint-julips at 1:00 PM. I left my name and email address with my message of vote “No”.

  15. Called both Senators Bennett and Udall of Colorado. Sen. Bennetts call screener thanked me for my call and said he would pass my request along to the senator. I got a recording at Udall’s office and left a voice message for him with my email address in case he had comment.

  17. I spoke with the offices of Senators Chambliss and Issacson today urging opposition to the START Treaty. Neither of these Senators have taken a position concerning the START Treaty as of today, September 13.

I was told that, ” my concerns would be communicated to the Senators”. I thought the response was not encouraging.

    • Dear L.Wexler,
You are correct these (2) senators are not worth the salt in their bread! As I was told several years ago
that our illustious congress men and women do not represent us they are for “BIG MONEY”! Now with thatsaid we put them in we can take them ouit! OH! The money they spend is our money! I have been
a long time advocatefor voters to vote on whether they have earned a pay raise and we should see the budget and bills before any votes are cast!!

  19. I asked Sen. Isakson’s aide what his position is on START. She said he is waiting for it to come out of committee to decide. I told her to give him my position, that I oppose any treaty that weakens our national security.

I then called Sen. Chambliss’ office, but his aide on national security was out. I left a voicemail for him to call me with the Senator’s position, and told him what my position is.

  21. This treaty could be risky to national security, specifically linking strategic defense with strategic arsenal is a serious mistake. I called both offices of Senators from Georgia.

  23. I called both WA Senators – Murray and Cantwell. A member of staff said they would be happy to pass my message of opposition on to them. I expressly urged them to ask the Senators to stand in defense of America’s security. Only Cantwell’s staff asked my name and location.

Contacting Washington State Senators is most often a futile exercise ending in frustration. I can only pray that this year enough patriots have been awakened and will turn the tide of progressives.

  25. I called both Mark Udall”s and Mike Bennett’s office. I was told Udall hadn’t made a decision yet although on the committee. Bennett’s staffer said he wasn’t on the committee and couldn’t vote until it comes out of committee and hadn’t made a decision on how to vote.

  27. I called both senators from Georgia. The response was the polite phone response “I’ll let the senator know your stand,” but it didn’t seem to register any emotion.

  29. I called both the Georgia Senators. Got the same response as Albert M. above. Senator Isakson (who is up for re-election in November) had a live body answering. This person said he would record my NO vote, but that the good Senator had not as of yet decided on a position.

Ditto the mint julips for Sen. Chambliss & friends (NOT up for a vote in November) @ 1:35PM.

Why aren’t the real conservatives in office asking (LOUDLY, OFTEN, PUBLICLY) why we are borrowing money from China in order to give it away to every country under the sun when we are broke???????
Oh, maybe that’s too “simple minded” to make sense.

  31. I called the offices of Senators Chambliss and Issacson today urging opposition to the START Treaty.

Senator Chambliss / Office staff not sure of his position but they promised to email his position.

Senator Issacson / Is in meetings at this time to determined his position.

I was disappointed to discover that both Senators don’t have a firm position regarding this Treaty as of today and the vote is Thursday. The fact that S. Kerry supports this treaty should be reason enough to oppose it.

  33. Does anyone here know what the Regional Greenhouse gas initiative is ? North Eastern seaboard state like Maine may already have joined? Some of us (conservatives) think this is a Wide Open Back Door to Cap and Tax. We are trying to get more info on it . It is an INC. but it acts like a government agency This may be the link.

  35. I called Senator Voinovich (twice) and opposed the start treaty. I talked to his aid who said there has been many calls and that he would pass along my comment to the senator. 1:55pm 9/13/2010

Senator Brown’s phone line is busy.

  37. I called the offices of Senators Murray and Cantwell, spoke with an aide, so will “pass on the request.:
Did not state the Senators position…but they usually support almost all of the Democratic proposals.
Many of us are hoping to vote Murray out..but many in the state of WA think Murray is wonderful and she has been able to get much pork for our state.

  39. I called Georiga Republican Senators Saxby and Johnny Isakson and left a message to vote NO. The persons who answered my calls said they had not heard which way these Senators would vote on the New Start Treaty.

    • I talked with both Senators’ office fromGeorgia (Isakson and Chamliss) and they have not, as of now committed their position. They are reviewing it. Chambliss rep said that he was opposed but not committed, pending further review. I requested that they be given the message of my request to oppose the treaty.

  41. When Russ Vought sent me the email asking me to call my Senators, he listed the two from Nebraska. Hard to do when you live and vote in Colorado.

  43. I called my Tennessee senators, Alexander and Corker, but neither was available at 2:00 p.m. ET. (Probably a long lunch break!) LOL So I left messages with non-committal clerks who said they would pass my message to the senators. Same-old same-old. In their defense, however, both senators always reply via emails to my calls, and for that I thank them.

  45. I phoned both Sens. Webb’s and Warner’s offices and left voice messages. There were obviously no return comments and won’t be unless they phone back or e-mail me — highly unlikely, I would say!

  47. Senator Shelby’s office said he is going to vote no on the bill. Sessions office said they would advise him of my call requesting a vote of no. They also advised that the Senator is working on a plan to over throw Obamacare.

  51. Called Senator Kyl and Senator McCain. Senator Kyl’s aide said that the senator is opposed to the treaty.
I had to leave a voice mail message for Senator McCain. It seems too many of our senators have no interest in what the people of this country have to say. In other words they no longer represent the people. I hope the people are getting the message and will vote them out of office. We need Senators who answer to the people, NOT their party or Special interests.

  53. I called both of our senators (Bennet and Udall) and spoke with one of their staff. On requesting that the senator oppose the Start treaty because it weakens our nation while strengthening and emboldening our enemies, the reply was politely that they would pass my opinion on to the senator. Frankly, even if they do pass it along, I have little confidence that our comments will have any effect since both of our senators are hold-the-party-line democrats.

  55. Sen. Corker’s office said he was on the committee, and that IF he voted For any reductions, it would have to be offset with Smarter Systems.
I told the him he should Know that the Dems could NOT be trusted to keep their word!!!!!

  57. I called Senator Lindsey Graham’s office, his mailbox was full. Called back & spoke with one of his staf asking Lindsey Graham to oppose the Start Treaty becauase it weakens our security. They politely listened and said they would pass the message along to Senator Graham. They did not ask for my name or zip code and frankly I doubt that Senator Graham will oppose the treaty. He is a mugwump, his mug on one side & his wump on the other. South Carolina has another 4 years to contend with the likes of him.

    • I called both Senator Corker and Senator Alexander and registered by thoughts about why this is a bad treaty (it weakens us, strengthens the Russians, does nothing to stop Iran or N. Korea). Corker’s office will pass the message on. Alexander has not taken a stand on this. Our missile defense has already been weakened by this president when he decimated the missile response in Alaska. We don’t need to be equal to our enemies, we need to be superior. After we cut off Eastern Europe by backing down to Russia over the missile shield, any more “treaties” will put is in further jeopardy.

When I called Senator Voinovich in Cincinnati and told the staffer my concern, the staffer (a white female) took the words right out of my mouth that I want the Senator to oppose the New START Treaty. (I even went on to call Iran and North Korea our enemies in the War on Terror.)

  73. I was unable to speak with either Senator Vitter or Senator Landrieu. Both of the people answering their telephones agreed to pass my message requesting that they strongly oppose the Start Treaty. I have no doubt that Senator Vitter will be in opposition to that treaty. On the other hand, Senator Landrieu seems to march in step with whatever our illegitimate president promotes.

  79. Senator Maria Cantwell’s office says she does not have any opinion regarding the Start issue but is looking for constituent input. I said I was against continued weakening of our defense position.
It seems amazing that neither of our Democrat Senators has an opinion on this subject. One way to avoid any disagreeing conversations with voters, I guess.

    • I called both Senator Murray and Senator Cantwell here in Washington. Both are redder than chairman Mao’s cheeks on a winter day! Neither has a stance at this time, meaning they don’t want to take heat until the vote.

  83. I called Senator Graham’s office and spoke to a member of his staff. Asked her how the Senator felt about the Start Treaty…she put me on hold and checked with others. She said that he is still studying the treaty with others. Told her to tell him to vote against this treaty that would weaken our National Security and join Jim DeMint to defeat this treaty.

  85. I just hung up the phone after leaving a msg with Sen Bob Corker and Sen Lamar Alaxander(the Senators are of course much to busy to speak with the votors who put them in office) advising them NOT to vote for the Kerry SALT Treaty. I do not believe Kerry could find his own butt with two hands let alone be trusted with a TREATY. I am old and remember when he (Kerry) stood up and testified (Untruthfully) about those of us who served during the war. Every vet who’s that senator something and it sure as hell is not approval. Many thanks to all of you at Heritage, Tom Cunningham

  87. I called PA Senator Arlen Spector’s office but don’t have any faith what so ever that he’ll listen to a word I say. His staff person said that he’s not given any indication of how he plans to vote. But being the rhino now turn coat Democrat who lost his primary I’m sure he’s just interested in scratching Obama’s back on his way out of office. I emailed Bob Casey’s office. No reply as of yet.

  95. I called both Senator Isakson and Chambliss. According to their staffers, neither has made a decision about the treaty. The reason being that they haven’t had the information to read. I emphatically told the staffers that they should tell the senators that they need to vote against the treaty. 97. I just got off the phone with representatives from Senators Mark Udall and Michael Bennet of Colorado. Senator Udall has not officially issued his position on START, and Senator Bennet will be voting to ratify at this time. My concerns with weakening our security under the proposed changes to START were heard and the representatives said they would pass them on to the Senators.

Senator Kyl’s staffer said the Senator opposed this bill and thanked me. Senator McCain’s office had me leave a voice mail. We’ll see how he votes. Left my name at both places though that was not required.

  109. I called the offices of my two senators, Bennett and Hatch of Utah. Senator Bennett’s aide did not know what the senator’s plans were on the START Treaty, but he said he would pass my message to oppose the treaty on to the senator. I called Senator Hatch’s office twice. Each time a recorded message simply stated, “Please hold.” I was calling long distance and wasn’t in the mood to wait for who knows how long.

Bennett is a lame duck senator. But he can still vote on the treaty. I’m going to email Senator Hatch today and strongly encourage him to oppose the treaty and to be aware that I’ll be voting for sure in November and that I have a large family who feel the same way as I do about this idiotic treaty.

  111. Sen. Corker’s staffer (TN) said he’s co-sponsoring something the Sen. Lugar concerning this bill. I was deeply saddened and told her so. I also told her I am urging Sen. Corker to oppose the bill. She read a prepared reply to me, stating that she had only recently received it so was scanning it as we spoke. I told her to take her time in order to fully relate what he was saying. Then I called Sen. Alexander’s office and his staffer said he hasn’t yet released a statement. She asked me if I wanted to leave my view on the bill and she would make sure he gets it. I told her I’m urging him to oppose it. She did go on to say that they are receiving many calles on this bill. I’m beyond concerned about Sen. Corker and told his staffer that.

I told her I was greatly displeased. I quoted the reasons for opposing the bill as stated in your e-mail/newsletter and asked her to pass my concerns along to the Senator, which she said she would.

Both calls were made at about 10:00, 9/15.

  115. I called my two Ohio senators and got an automated recording saying Voinovitch’s voice mailbox was full and could not accept any more messages. I did talk to a real person in Sherrod Brown’s office asking what his position was on the New Salt Treaty and was told he did not have a position yet but I could give him my opinion and it would be passed on to the senator.

  117. I telephoned the offices of both Voinovich and Brown.

Voinovich’s office had a recorded message: “The mailbox is full.” So what else is new George? You either do NOT want to hear from your constituents, or you just don’t give a darn! How typical of your remoteness from us voters George. We will NOT be remote in the elections!

Senator Brown’s office had a small delay, while one waited in silance, until a staffer answered. I made my position clear that I wanted the Senator to vote down the Start Treaty. The staffer only wanted my Zip Code. Come on now Sherrod, demographics are politically important, but national security of the US is paramount!

  119. I too called “Mrs.” Voinovich abd was put on hold and then the phone went to a busy signal. How convenient. Oh well he hasn’t made a stand for America in the three years since I moved to the great state of Ohio. I emailed the Senator numerous times and asked him to get some b_ _ _ s.
Maybe he is out looking for them today….sorry for the sarcasm, but I am tired of this RINO.
As far as Senator Brown he wasn’t there to take my call and when I asked one of his aides how the Senator intended to vote she put me on hold to look up the answer but never came back on the line, maybe she is helping Voinovich find something….
My second call I was able to ask the same question and he told me Senator Brown is still undecided.
I asked him to tell the Senator that I wanted him to oppose the bill and to also announce it publicly and stop watching the polls…..stand up and be a man.
I gave him my phone number and asked him to tell Sherrod to call me anytime…..fat chance!!

    Pray for our Troops.

    Pray for America.

    God Bless.

I always think of the our Service Officers Code; DUTY WELL PERFORMED
    HONOR IN ALL THINGS
    COUNTRY BEFORE SELF
Both get about a “C” grade.

  127. The Tennessee Senators, Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker, had staffers fielding their calls and they said they would relay my message of opposition. I also voiced my opposition to Obamacare and said repealing that bill should be first on the Senate agenda as it is a primary deterent to business expanding. Both staffers said they will relay my message.

  137. For Senators Cornyn and Hutchison of Texas I keep getting the recording that their mailboxes are full. It never changes, no matter what issue I am calling about. PLEASE find another way to communicate our opinions on current issues.

  139. Just called Senators Udall and Bennet from Colorado (spoke to staffers, not the elected officials) and told them about my opposition to the START treaty and how I found it to be hurting our national security rather than enforce it. I also mentioned that voting for it without reading it (Hey, Obama, what happened to transparency???) and shoving it through before they recess for Christmas is immature and hasty.

I closed out the call by wishing them a Merry Christmas. I don’t like either of the Senators, as they are liberals, but if they here nice closings, it’s more likely to make it to the Senator’s ears.

    Thank you Heritage!!!

  141. I also called my senators Alexander and Corker and was told they hadnt come out with their decision on the start treaty yet! Senator Corker usually is the most reliable when it comes to the views I and the rest of Tennessee hold! Senator Alexander is another story and is not well regarded in the state of Tennessee. In a gradegov poll of whether you would vote for him in the next election %65 said no! At least we are trying!
